GAUGE:

1 Hexagon = 8 in. (20.5 cm) at widest point. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

2-dc Cl (2-dc cluster) (Yarn over, insert hook in ring and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) 2 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
3-dc Cl (3-dc cluster) (Yarn over, insert hook in ring and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.


THROW
Hexagon I (make 6) With A, ch 5; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2-dc Cl in ring, ch 3, (3-dc Cl, ch 3) 5 times; join with sl st in top of first cluster – 6 clusters at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 2: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 3, (2-dc Cl, ch 3, 3-dc Cl) in same ch-3 sp, ch 3, *(3-dc Cl, ch 3, 3-dc Cl) in next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of first cluster – 12 clusters at the end of this rnd. Fasten off A.
Rnd 3: Join B in first ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2-dc Cl in same ch-3 sp, ch 3, (3-dc Cl, ch 3, 3-dc Cl) in next ch-3 sp (corner made), ch 3, *3-dc Cl in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, (3-dc Cl, ch 3, 3-dc Cl) in next ch-3 sp (corner made), ch 3; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of first cluster – 18 clusters at the end of this rnd. Fasten off B.
Note: Do not work clusters on Rnds 4 and 5, instead work regular double crochet sts.
Rnd 4: Join C in any corner ch-3 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-3 sp, 3 dc in each of next 2 ch-3 sps, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch-3 sp, 3 dc in next 2 ch-3 sps; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 72 dc and 6 ch-2 sps at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working (dc, ch 2, dc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st in top of beginning ch. Fasten off.
Hexagon II (make 10)
Make as for Hexagon I, but using C for Rnds 1 and 2, B for Rnd 3, and D for Rnds 4 and 5.
Hexagon III (make 12)
Make as for Hexagon I, but using D for Rnds 1 and 2, A for Rnd 3, and E for Rnds 4 and 5.
Hexagon IV (make 1)
Make as for Hexagon I, but using D for Rnds 1 and 2, E for Rnd 3, and C for Rnds 4 and 5.

FINISHING
Arrange Hexagons according to Assembly Diagram. From RS, work sl st through both thicknesses with color of your choice to join.
Edging
From RS, join C with sl st in a ch-sp immediately before an inner corner where two Hexagons are joined.
Rnd 1: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, *sc in corner ch-sp of Hexagon, sc in corner ch-sp of next Hexagon, sc in each dc and ch of ch-2 sp across edges of Hexagon to next inner corner ch-sp; rep from * around entire outside edge of Afghan; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
