STITCH EXPLANATION:
sc2tog (sc 2 together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
GAME BOARD
FRONT SQUARES (make 9)
With A, ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 8 sts.
Rows 2-8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
BACK
With C, ch 33.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 32 sts.
Rows 2-32: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Edging
From right side, join B with a sl st along outside edge of a Square. Sc evenly around Square, working 2 sc at each corner. Join with sl st to beginning sc. Fasten off.
Rep edging around remaining Squares.
Sew Squares together into 3 rows of 3 Squares each for Front. With B, work edging around entire Front.
With C, work edging around Back.
Lay Back onto a flat surface with wrong side facing up. Lay Front, centered, onto Back. Sew Back and Front together around 3 sides, leaving remaining side open so that game pieces can be stored inside the Game Board.
Weave in ends.
GAME PIECES
"O's" (make 5)
With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts.
Rnd 3: *Work 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 18 sts.
Fasten off.
"X's" (make 10)
With D, ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 8 sts.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew "X" pieces together into pairs. Adhere the hook portion (portion with a rough feel) of a hook and loop dot to one side of each O and X, dots will adhere to the surface of the game board.
Weave in ends.
