STITCH EXPLANATION:
PATTERN STITCHES Woven Stitch (multiple of 2 sts) Notes: 1. With yarn in front (wyif) refers to the side of the work facing you as you work the row.
2. With yarn in back (wyib) refers to the side of the work that is away from you as you work the row.
3. To move yarn from front to back or back to front, bring yarn between needles. Take care not to wrap yarn over a needle, this could create an additional st.
4. All sl sts should be slipped as if to purl.
Row 1 (RS): *K1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * across.
Row 2: *P1, sl 1 wyib; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Woven st pattern.
Seed St (over an even number of sts) Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across the row.
Row 2: P the knit sts and k the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed st.
NOTES:
NOTES 1. Yarn D is worked with 2 strands held tog. Wind D into 2 separate balls before beg.
2. Markers have been placed to define the side borders (3 sts at beg and 3 sts at end of each row) of Scarf.
SCARF
With 1 strand of A, cast on 28 sts.
Work in Seed st for 1 row.
Change to 2 strands of D held tog, and work in Seed st as established for 1 row. Next Row: With 2 strands of D held tog, work in Seed st as established over 3 sts, place marker (pm), work in Seed st to last 3 sts, pm, work in Seed st as established over last 3 sts.
Section 1
Row 1: With 1 strand of A, work in Seed st as established over 3 sts, slip marker (sm), work Row 1 of Woven st pattern across to last 3 sts, sm, work in Seed st as established over last 3 sts. Row 2: With 1 strand of A, work in Seed st over 3 sts, sm, work Row 2 of Woven st pattern across to last 3 sts, sm, work in Seed st over last 3 sts. Row 3: With 2 strands of D held tog, work in Seed st over 3 sts, sm, work Row 1 of Woven st pattern across to last 3 sts, sm, work in Seed st over last 3 sts. Section 2
Cut A and continue with 1 strand of B and 2 strands of D.
Rep Rows 1-4 of Section 1 until Section 2 measures about 8 in. (20 cm), end with a Row 4.
Section 3
Cut B and continue with 1 strand of C and 2 strands of D.
Rep Rows 1-4 of Section 1 until Section 3 measures about 8 in. (20 cm), end with a Row 4.
Sections 4-6
Rep Sections 1-3.
On last row of Section 6, remove markers as you work across the row.
Drop, but do not cut D.
With 1 strand of C work in Seed st for 2 rows. Cut C.
With 2 strands of D work in Seed st for 1 row.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
